What Do Physical 100: Italy Contestants Wear? The White Tee, the Shoulder Number and the Plank Over Water
Where the season stands — Netflix released episodes 1–3 of Physical 100: Italy at 3 a.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 11. Episodes 4 and 5 follow on Friday, Sept. 18, and the finale lands Oct. 2. Our competition schedule for Sept. 14–20 has the rest of the week.

The short of itThe 100 contestants in Physical 100: Italy compete in plain, identical training tops, and the official Netflix trailer shows light-colored tees in the arena, a contestant number printed high on the shoulder, and a grey sleeveless top in the sit-down interviews. No brand has been credited. What the first three episodes do tell you is what those clothes had to survive: a plank on beams over water, a three-minute fight over a heavy ball, and a long team endurance stage.

Olympic swimmer Federica Pellegrini, gymnast Jury Chechi and diver Tania Cagnotto went in wearing the same thing as roughly ninety people you have never heard of. That sameness is the format's whole pitch, and it makes the wardrobe unusually easy to copy.

What are the Physical 100: Italy contestants wearing?

Here is what we could confirm, and from where. We watched the official trailer Netflix posted on May 29 and read the episode recaps; we did not find any wardrobe credit from Netflix or Endemol Shine Italy.

Pellegrini appears in the trailer in a pale, cream-colored top, applauding. That is about as close to a styling choice as this show gets.

What did the first three quests ask of the clothes?

Each opening quest punishes a different weakness in a garment. Reading them in that order explains why a plain fitted tee beats anything with a hood, a zip or a loose hem.

QuestWhat happenedWhat it does to a shirt
The plank over waterTwo groups of 50 held a plank on narrow girders above a pool; anyone who dropped went in. Bigger bodies struggled first.A top that rides up puts skin on a cold beam; a wet top gets heavy.
The ball duelThe top 40 paired off to fight over a heavy ball for three minutes; whoever held it at the buzzer won. A ball on the floor could not be kept for more than five seconds.Any loose fabric is a handle for your opponent.
The room choiceDuelists picked a strength room with a pool in the middle or an agility room built like a climbing frame.Water again, or bars that snag hems.

The third episode moved to a team stage built on endurance, which is where breathable fabric starts to matter more than grip.

Why would a show like this hand everyone a plain tee?

Nobody from the production has explained it, so treat this as our reading. Identical kit removes the one thing famous contestants could use to stand out before they have done anything. It also makes a sweat patch or a soaked shirt visible from across the Lingotto arena in Turin, and that is useful television.

The printed number does a practical job too. With 100 people on the floor, the editors need to tell who is who in a wide shot. A number on the shoulder survives a plank and a tackle better than a bib would.

Three quests, three problems for a shirt: grip, water and grab points.

What does the look cost at three price levels?

We priced a light-colored training top at each tier on the brands' own websites on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at about 11:50 p.m. ET. Stock by size was also checked then.

TierTopPriceSizes in stockHonest take
BudgetBubblelime V Neck Athletic Top, UPF 50+ Quick Dry, White$19.98XS–XXLSleeveless with wide straps and a relaxed cut, no compression. Good for heat and the team stage; the loose body is exactly what an opponent grabs in a duel.
MidOutdoor Voices ThinkFast Mesh Muscle Tank, Brilliant White$40.99 (marked down from $58)XXS–XXXLMesh for cooling and a hem that sits below the waistband, so it stays put in a plank. Widest size run of the three.
PremiumBeyond Yoga Breezeweight Active Short Sleeve Tee, White$68.00XXS–XXLThe closest shape to the on-screen tee: sleeves, a streamlined fit and midway length, in a very light wicking knit.

None of these is the garment the contestants wear. They are the nearest buyable versions of the cut. For the lower half, the same logic we used in the competition-show training kit applies: fitted, high-rise, nothing that swings.

Is a loose tank or a fitted tee better if you train this way?

It depends on whether anyone is pulling on you.

SessionPickWhy
Hyrox-style circuit, long solo intervalsLoose tankMore air, less cling when it is soaked
Partner drills, wrestling, ball carries against resistanceFitted short-sleeve teeGives the other person less to hold
Anything near a pool or sprinklerSynthetic knit, not a cotton blendCotton stretches and sags once wet

Fabric matters as much as cut. Our sister site measured how spandex content changes stretch and recovery, and the same principle holds for tops. On the bottom half, a squat-proof high waist legging or an 8-inch short keeps the plank quest from becoming a wardrobe problem.
