Special Forces Season 5 (2026): Premiere Time, the 15 Recruits and the Jungle Kit Malaysia Demands
At a glance — Special Forces: World's Toughest Test season 5 premieres Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m. ET on FOX and streams the next day on Hulu. Fifteen celebrity recruits, one Malaysian jungle, four ex-special forces instructors. This page is the season hub: we will add what the recruits actually wear on screen after the premiere airs.

Quick answerFOX has not published a wardrobe breakdown for season 5, and nothing has aired yet, so no one can tell you the exact kit. What is known is the setting: the recruits were sent into the jungles of Malaysia for tasks that include a search of an underground bunker, a supply retrieval while suspended 300 feet above the jungle floor, and a gassing exercise. Heat, humidity, mud and rope decide what clothing works there. Below is the schedule, the cast, what that environment asks of a top and a pair of pants, and three long-sleeve tops you can buy at three prices.

When does Special Forces season 5 premiere, and where can you stream it?

All times Eastern. We matched the TVmaze listing against the cast announcement coverage from TVLine and TV Insider.

Season 4 ran nine weekly episodes from late September, so a finale around the week before Thanksgiving is a reasonable guess for season 5. FOX has not confirmed an episode count. The rest of September's returns are on our competition shows grid for Sept. 14–20, and the full streaming picture sits on our sister site's new on streaming this week list.

Why does a jungle change the kit more than a desert or a Welsh hillside?

The show has already been to Jordan's desert, New Zealand's South Island, Wales and Morocco. Each one punished a different part of the wardrobe. Cold and wet ones reward warm layers; dry heat rewards shade.

A lowland rainforest in Malaysia is hot and humid through the whole year, and it rains in every month. Sweat does not evaporate well in that air, so fabric that absorbs water stays wet for hours. The ground adds mud, and the trees add thorns, vines and insects.

👈 Everything in the next two sections is about function. We are not claiming any recruit wore a particular brand or garment.

What should a top and pants do in heat, mud and rope work?

RequirementWhy it matters in the jungle
Long sleeves, full-length pantsTrade a little heat for protection from scratches, sun and bites — the same compromise military jungle uniforms make
Mostly synthetic fabricPolyester and nylon hold less water than cotton or viscose, so they dry faster once the rain stops
Flat seams, no pockets under strapsThe 300-foot suspension task means a harness across thighs and shoulders; bulk under a strap rubs all day
Nothing that hangsDrawstring loops and loose hems catch on vines the way they catch on a rig
Dark or muted colorMud stains light fabric, and wet pale fabric turns see-through on camera

The snagging problem is the same one we covered in what physical-competition training kit is built for.

What does a long-sleeve jungle-ready top cost at three prices?

Prices checked on each brand's own site on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at about 11:45 p.m. ET. Stock by size moves daily.

TierTopPriceFabric and trade-off
BudgetBubblelime UPF 50+ Long Sleeve Rashguard Swim Shirt, Black, XS–XL (all sizes in stock at check)$20.98Built to go in and out of water, with a UPF 50+ rating and flat seams. Cut slim like a swim shirt, so it sits close to the skin; size up if you want air underneath. No hood or thumb holes.
MidFree Fly Women's Bamboo Shade Long Sleeve II, Dark Forest (XS, S and XXL in stock at check)$68.00UPF 50+, 68% viscose from bamboo, 29% polyester, 3% spandex, 180 GSM. The softest of the three and naturally odor-resistant, but the viscose holds more water than an all-synthetic knit after a soaking.
PremiumJanji Women's Sunchaser 50 Hooded Long Sleeve, Mist (S and M sold out at check)$88.00UPF 50, 84% recycled polyester and 16% spandex. Adds a large hood, thumb holes and underarm perforation, and the relaxed fit leaves room for airflow.

If the shirt will spend most of its life on hikes and humid runs, the budget or premium synthetic makes more sense. The bamboo blend is the better pick for travel days and dry heat. For the water side of the same question, our Survivor season 51 wardrobe breakdown covers how fabrics behave in salt water.

Will we ever know the exact pieces the recruits wear?

Probably not, unless a brand announces a deal. Uniforms on this kind of show are issued by the production and rarely credited, and logos tend to be covered for clearance reasons. When a brand does outfit a season, it says so publicly. No such announcement exists for season 5 as of Sept. 14.

What we can do is describe cut, fabric and color from the broadcast. We did that for Physical 100: Mexico and Physical 100: Italy, and our method is in how to find workout clothes you see on TV. We will update this page after the Sept. 24 premiere with what season 5's kit looks like on screen.

What else is worth watching before Sept. 24?

Dancing with the Stars opens season 35 this week, and its rehearsal footage is the closest thing to training wear on network TV right now; our DWTS season 35 rehearsal wear guide prices that look. The Challenge keeps dropping Wednesdays on Paramount+, as in episode 7's release time.
